News Around the Shop

A Message of Hope for Christmas

Addicted To Fabric - Friday, December 23, 2016

Just arrived from Rwanda are these vivid cotton prints from a brave and entrepreneurial young woman who has started a small textiles export business.  Claire Mbabazi is a survivor of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide, which claimed the life of both her father and her brother.  An immensely proud Rwandan, Claire - with help from a local Canberra family - is excited to be showcasing the talents of her country.  We have gladly purchased a range to help her get started.  Claire's story and these fabrics are sure to brighten your Christmas!

Christmas Approaches

Addicted To Fabric - Friday, December 16, 2016

There has been a flurry of activity around the shop in the lead up to Christmas.  The final handover for the year of quilts for QE II took place last Thursday - along with lots of home made morning tea.  Our Thursday ladies do a wonderful job making all these quilts.  Judy has finished her magnificent wool applique quit ( middle right) - ready for the quilting machine and Virginia is rightly chuffed with her finished quilt (bottom right) she started in our Kaffe Fassett class earlier this year.  Congratulations to both Judy and Virginia on these beautiful pieces

Christmas Gifts

Addicted To Fabric - Tuesday, December 06, 2016

Last Sunday, a group of ladies assembled at the shop to make stylish bags to donate to women experiencing domestic violence over the Christmas period.  24 bags were made on the day and they are currently being filled with goodies such as cosmetics and essentials before being sent off to give a few ladies a little bit of unexpected Christmas cheer.
